Eden Massage

Eden Massage was started in Eden by Mandy Douch in the late 1980’s, she then married Chris Hodgkinson and it retained the name Eden Massage. I purchased the clinic 1/5/2000 and closed up my Bega Clinic and moved John Bobbin Natural Medicine into here. I had qualifications in IMG_1262Nutritional Science and Naturopathic Medicine to add to my qualifications of Swedish (relaxation) and Remedial Massage. For the next few years I studied images-1sporting massage, trigger point massage and finally Leon Chaitow’s Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT). I then practiced for the several years until I was satisfied I had mastered massage, I also completed a Bachelor of Naturopathy in 2003 and then in 2010 I went back to Southern Cross University to graduate with a Master of Clinical Science, the second highest degree in the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) after PhD.

Massage As A Health Discipline

After graduating as the top student in massage from Peter Derig’s Health Schools Australia, Peter asked me to set up a massage training school at Pambula which I did for three years with now Professor Stephen Myers Southern Cross University, this was to give students class room knowledge and physical practice and it was done at the old South Pambula PO, Stephen had renamed in Pinpunya. We concentrated on both Remedial and Relaxation. At this time the only diploma in Australia for massage was the Diploma of Swedish Massage as taught in Sweden. By the mid nineties this diploma was renamed Diploma of Remedial Massage and it is the only one recognised by Health Funds.

Today there are  4 year full time Degrees  for remedial massage… Bachelor of Myotherapy being offered by several colleges. According to health funds Neuromuscular Therapy and Myotherapy are thumb-1.phpinterchangeable names, we do use the same textbooks. Remedial massage has come a long way and is now considered an excellent hands on therapy for relief of muscular pain and dysfunctional joints, we are even covered by workCover NSW or I should say I am (number 3178).While Australia seems to be up there with leading countries with massage it is falling behind with Naturopathy with America and Canada registering them as doctors. This clinic is unique in that the patients can ask questions about health and diet and get answers from the latest cutting edge science papers, all this whilst getting muscles fixed. This is a true one stop shop for health.
